Abstract

Universitas Islam merupakan replika manusia paripurna (al-insān al-kāmil). Manusia paripurna berkulminasi pada diri Rasulullah saw. selanjutnya pada diri para pewaris ilmunya. Penelitian beri-kut bertujuan untuk mengekspos ide serta konsep institusi pendidikan tinggi Islam (lit. al-jāmi‘ah al-islamiyyah) yang dipropos dan dirangkai bina oleh Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas. Meng-gunakan pendekatan diskriptif kualitatif, tulisan ini menemukan bahwa: institusi pendidikan tinggi Islam harus memiliki visi, misi, dan objektif yang jelas di mana pada gilirannya dapat melahirkan manusia yang beradab. Oleh karenanya, rangkaian kurikulum yang komprehensif yang di dalamnya memuat kurikulum ilmu fardu ain dan ilmu fardu kifayah harus terbingkai.
